Through our second pillar, we work to create awareness of screening guidelines, partner with local organizations to provide social and emotional support services, and when needed, develop our own programming to support unmet needs.
The Foundation is the last entity aligned with a clinical program in Albuquerque that provides free wigs and prosthetics to anyone in the community through a gift closet. The expansion of our gift closet to meet the needs of both the Albuquerque and Gallup communities for breast cancer-related support devices (wigs, prosthetics, bras, hats, turbans, and more) continues to be a priority.
We empower women through our Women’s Care Wednesday program by offering weekly, no-cost nutrition classes focused on building skills for affordable, easy-to-prepare meals that promote recovery. Our monthly offerings extend this support with holistic therapies, including Beautiful Warrior for appearance management, art therapy, yoga, balance workshops, and more.
To enhance the healing environment, the Foundation collaborates with Gallery With a Cause, converting the New Mexico Cancer Center’s public spaces into a dynamic art gallery featuring local artists. This quarterly exhibit, showcasing local artists and up to 400 pieces, not only beautifies waiting rooms, hallways, and distribution areas, but also supports the Foundation’s mission, with 40% of all art sales directly benefiting patient programs through tax-deductible contributions.
Each quarter, Gallery With a Cause hosts a 90-day exhibit featuring 15 artists and up to 400 pieces. Beyond enhancing the environment for patients and staff, the gallery serves a philanthropic purpose.
Art sales directly benefit the New Mexico Cancer Center Foundation with 40% of all sales applied as a tax-deductible contribution to support the Foundation’s mission.
